Robert
Michael Pyle, UW & Yale-spawned ecologist and Guggenheim Fellow,
writes essays, poetry and fiction along the Lower Columbia tributary
of Gray's River. Bob has taught environmental writing from Ilwaco
to Idaho, Tajikistan to Tasmania. Next spring he will serve for
the second time as Kittredge Distinguished Visiting Writer at the
University of Montana. He shares an old Swedish farmstead with
weaver and botanist Thea Linnaea Pyle.
Of his fifteen books, Wintergreen has been called a users' manual for
Willapa, while Sky Time in Gray's River is more of a welcome
wagon, with warnings. His latest is Mariposa Road: The
First Butterfly Big Year, the chronicle of his adventures on a very
long road trip with butterflies. Mariposa Road and other books
will be available for purchase and signing at the Spirit event this
year.
